Wimdu UK appoints Diffusion as retained agency for UK brand awareness campaign
Wimdu UK, one of Europe’s leading social accommodation search websites, has appointed Diffusion as its retained consumer PR agency. Following a competitive pitch, Diffusion has been selected to develop and implement a communications strategy raising awareness of Wimdu UK among consumers in the UK through a sustained national and regional media campaign.
Founded in March 2011, Wimdu is one of a growing group of companies offering a marketplace for homeowners to rent out their spare rooms and homes to tourists and visitors. The company set up UK offices in May 2011 and already lists almost 2,000 properties in the UK. Helped by an £80million investment injection by the Samwer Brothers, Wimdu has expanded globally and now has over 35,000 properties in 2,000 cities across 100 countries.
The campaign will focus on building brand awareness of Wimdu’s social accommodation search which unites travellers and hosts from around the world. The campaign will also aim to attract new hosts to the site especially in the run up to the London 2012 Olympics. Diffusion will reinforce that anybody can offer their flat or house to guests, the host benefits from additional income and social travel provides guests with a completely new perspective on the holiday destination.
A key campaign objective will be introducing consumers to social accommodation whilst encouraging home owners to open their home to guests visiting the UK. The campaign will be driven by key creative peaks, reinforced by a solid and integrated press office campaign.

Dunelm Mill appoints Diffusion to social media brief
Diffusion has been appointed by Dunelm Mill, the UK’s largest provider of homewares, to develop and implement the brand’s social media and blogger engagement strategy across the UK.
Diffusion will use social media including Facebook and Twitter to emphasise Dunelm Mill’s expertise for interior design as well as reinforcing the brand’s commitment to quality products at everyday low prices. The campaign will do this through the central theme of inspiring consumers to make small changes that make a big difference to the look and feel of their home.
Diffusion will create online communities focused on inspiring consumers to share their home design tips. Through Dunelm Mill’s ‘Love it, Like it’ inspiration look book on Facebook, fans will be also be able to browse the best user generated design tips.
The agency will also develop and implement Dunelm Mill’s blogger relations strategy, developing relationships for Dunelm Mill with key homeware and interior design influencers. The campaign will also help to support Dunelm Mill’s expansion across the UK with a series of blogger inspiration events to be held at store openings in addition to the business’ 113 stores across the UK.

Caxton FX appoints Diffusion to integrated consumer campaign
Diffusion has been appointed by Europe’s leading foreign exchange company Caxton FX to raise awareness of foreign currency cards amongst young couples, business professionals, travellers and families. The campaign will focus on educating consumers on how to achieve the best value for money when exchanging their money for a trip abroad, or trying to access additional funds while in another country.
The campaign will focus on promoting Caxton FX’s three foreign currency cards: Europe Traveller, Dollar Traveller, and Global Traveller. It will highlight Caxton FX’s pioneering position in the market, offering no ATM fees for card use abroad, significantly better exchange rates and high level of customer service for which Caxton FX was voted number one choice in Which? magazine’s Travel Report this July, ahead of Travelex, M&S Money and the Post Office.
Diffusion will implement an integrated campaign focusing on traditional and social media. The traditional media campaign will focus on building awareness and advocacy amongst travel and personal finance sections of national and broadcast media. The social media campaign will engage personal finance and travel bloggers while also developing and building Caxton FX’s social media communities on Facebook and Twitter in the run up to the Christmas travel period and next year’s summer holiday season.

Diffusion PR Sponsors the UK’s first Women In Wireless Event
Mobile PR specialist Diffusion has been selected as the lead sponsor for the UK’s first ever Women In Wireless event, held in conjunction with the GSMA.
Taking place on September 8th during Mobile Marketing Week, organised by Mobile Marketer, Women In Wireless will be holding a multi-city speed networking event, with similar parties organised in San Francisco, New York, Toronto, Calgary and, for the first time, London.
Women In Wireless was established to help empower and develop female leaders in the mobile and digital media industries. The organisation first formalised its efforts in 2009 by forming the Women In Wireless committee within the Mobile Marketing Association. Since then, the group has grown rapidly and today has over 1,000 members from companies including Google, mBlox, Apple, Cisco, American Express, Coca Cola and Disney.

CNBC appoints Diffusion to Fuel Global Energy Debates
CNBC in EMEA has appointed Diffusion to help raise awareness and build engagement for a series of international executive think tanks on the future of global energy policy. From alternative fuels, the future of electric vehicles to green taxes, CNBC’s Energy Opportunities will be bringing together major CEOs, government policy makers, NGOs and academic pioneers to discuss how to create a sustainable future.
Energy Opportunities consists of a series of special think tanks, highlights of which will air across the CNBC network, involving high-level international speakers filmed at events taking place in London, China and Singapore. Energy Opportunities will create a global brainstorm to explore the energy options of the future and will culminate in a 60 minute programme on CNBC. Air New Zealand retains Diffusion for integrated consumer PR agency brief
Air New Zealand has appointed integrated consultancy Diffusion to develop an integrated communication campaign across mainstream media and drive social media strategy. The campaign will focus strongly on articulating and building the airline’s brand both with a focus on quality of service, new in flight features and amplifying Air New Zealand’s ‘Forget all you know about flying’ marketing campaign.
Diffusion will run a sustained media relations and online influencer campaign to promote Air New Zealand’s two key routes from London Heathrow to Los Angeles and Hong Kong as well as routes to destination New Zealand.
Work will begin with promoting the airline’s acclaimed new Skycouch and Spaceseat products that were introduced to London routes in April. Skycouch is a new design that is revolutionising ‘economy’ air travel by turning three individual seats on a Boeing 777 into a single “skycouch’’, to give couples and those travelling with children a more flexible space when flying. The seats are already becoming affectionately known as ‘Cuddle Class’.
Air New Zealand has developed a strong reputation for its use of video virals, and Diffusion will drive online seeding and media amplification of video campaigns as well developing concepts for future digital campaigns. A new in-flight safety video “Fit to Fly” featuring US fitness legend Richard Simmons, released by the airline in March secured over one million views on YouTube in just three days. ‘Fit to Fly’ follows on from the airline’s hugely successful Nothing to Hide and Bare Essentials of Safety inflight video campaigns which have totalled more than 12 million views on YouTube to date.

Motors.co.uk, one of the UK’s leading used car search websites, has appointed Diffusion as its retained consumer PR agency. Diffusion has been selected to develop and implement an integrated communications strategy using both traditional media and social media channels. Key objectives of the campaign will include building brand awareness, amplifying a new TV advertising campaign and creating an online community around the Motors.co.uk brand.
Diffusion will be embarking on a sustained issues-based national and local media campaign for Motors.co.uk, aimed at articulating its motoring expertise and appeal to mainstream consumers, rather than just car enthusiasts. Diffusion launches integrated Film and Entertainment division
Diffusion has today launched a new Film and Entertainment practice to shake up the UK PR market. The division will be challenging both established PR players and digital agencies specialising in film, by providing entertainment brands with integrated traditional press and social media campaigns under one roof. At launch, the division has secured Gateway Films as its first retained client and has also won the brief to promote director Reg Traviss’ latest film project, Screwed.
Diffusion has recruited Laura Pettitt, a highly respected senior film publicist from Freud Communications as its new Head of Film and Entertainment. Laura has worked as the lead publicist on a series of high-profile projects including Bronson, Bruno, Kick-Ass, Adulthood, Made in Dagenham and has also managed ongoing PR campaigns for cinema chain Vue Entertainment and Sky Movies.

Diffusion Film & Entertainment has been retained by Terry Stone’s Gateway Films, the producers of Shank and Doghouse, to run the offline and digital campaigns for its slate of films in 2011. The first of these will be Weighed In, which starts shooting later this month and stars Bob Hoskins.
The agency has also been selected to work on Screwed, a feature being directed by critically acclaimed director and Reg Traviss (Joy Division, Psychosis). The film is a semi-biographical story based on the experiences of former prison guard Ronnie Thompson, who spent seven years working in some of the UK’s most dangerous prisons. Based on Thompson’s book of the same name, the project stars James D’Arcy (Master & Commander) and Noel Clarke (Kidulthood).
Upstream appoints Diffusion Mobile
Following a competitive, 10-agency pitch, Upstream, the international mobile marketing and technology company, has appointed Diffusion Mobile to lead its integrated media strategy in the UK. Upstream, which develops advanced mobile marketing solutions for major brands and operators across 40 countries, has briefed Diffusion Mobile to develop and implement an ongoing issues-based campaign to raise their profile among chief marketing officers, global operators and analyst communities using online, trade and national media.
A central objective for Diffusion Mobile will be to raise and manage Upstream’s profile ahead of Mobile World Congress, taking place in Barcelona in February 2010. The campaign will focus on themes relating to consumer response rates and ROI from mobile marketing.
Diffusion Mobile has been awarded the brief based on their industry and media knowledge, and a proven track record of driving issues-based campaigns in the mobile and marketing sectors.

Integrated agency appointed across community building and reputation management role

Mothercare appoints Diffusion to integrated brief
Mothercare Group, the UK’s largest provider of baby and parenting products, has appointed Diffusion to an integrated brief to help develop the social media strategy for its iconic Mothercare and Early Learning Centre retail brands. Diffusion has also been tasked to raise national awareness for Mothercare’s social networking site for new parents, Gurgle.com, through a high-impact campaign targeting young parents via mainstream print and broadcast media.
Mothers and young parents are an increasingly active group online, placing a huge amount of value on the opinions, advice and recommendations of their peers. Figures from comScore reveal that over 4.6 million mothers in the UK go online every month, spending over 26 hours surfing the web with a high focus on retail sites. Diffusion will be working with Mothercare and Early Learning Centre to develop an online engagement strategy based on actively listening to perceptions of the brand and its products online and then increasing participation on key parenting blogs, forums and social networking sites.
Key objectives will be to use social media to emphasise Mothercare’s expertise and heritage in the baby and parenting space, as well as promote key products and offers to drive both footfall on the High Street and sales via the brands’ ecommerce sites.
Diffusion’s issues-based PR campaign for Gurgle.com will seek to make it a destination site for expectant and recent mothers looking for advice from both resident experts as well as the site’s extensive community of mothers. Core to the campaign will be to increase Gurgle’s profile in national and lifestyle press, positioning Nifa McLaughlin, editor of Gurgle.com as a recognisable media spokesperson on key social, lifestyle and health issues effecting new parents.

Metro Newspaper appoints Diffusion to run social media campaign for Metro.co.uk
LONDON, 27 May 2010: Metro, the UK’s third largest national newspaper has appointed integrated agency Diffusion to develop and implement its social media strategy for Metro.co.uk. Diffusion has been briefed to build awareness of Metro’s online offering to the 3.5 million consumers who read the paper daily in 33 cities across the UK.
The campaign will look to make Metro.co.uk a destination site for ‘City Clickers’, 18 to 44 year-old young urban professionals looking for the best entertainment, showbiz and sports news as well as the strange and irreverent stories for which Metro has become famous.
Core to the campaign will be to increase online engagement and conversations between the paper and its readers and creating new digital marketing opportunities for advertisers. Diffusion will be developing Metro’s presence and engagement with readers on key social media platforms as well as building relationships with key bloggers across a range of niche subject areas and at a regional level.
In addition to building visits and reader loyalty to Metro.co.uk, Diffusion will also be promoting Metro’s online services, including the launch of its World Cup Fantasy Football game this month.

Thomson Local appoints Diffusion in Social Media Drive
LONDON, 13 May 2010: Thomson Local, the UK local search company, has appointed Diffusion to develop and implement integrated digital campaigns to increase consumer awareness and traffic to ThomsonLocal.com. Royal Institution selects Diffusion as Christmas Lectures go Digital
PR Week’s New Consultancy of the Year to implement integrated online awareness campaign
London, 14 December 2009 – The Royal Institution (www.Rigb.org), one of the UK’s oldest and most respected science-based communities has appointed Diffusion to run an integrated digital campaign to promote its annual Christmas Lectures. First delivered by Michael Faraday in 1825 and an iconic fixture of the festive TV schedule since 1966, the 2009 Christmas Lectures will be the first to take advantage of digital platforms to deliver an interactive audience experience.
The 2009 Lectures titled “The 300 million years war” will have a strong environmental theme, examining the complex relationship between animal and plant life. Diffusion will be using digital and traditional media channels to reach out to young people, teachers and parents to drive viewers to the lectures which will for the first time be broadcast on More 4 between 21st and 25th December. The agency has also been tasked with driving traffic to the Royal Institution website, which will host new interactive digital content and services.
The Lectures will be delivered by leading UK ecologist Prof Sue Hartley and viewers will be able to ask her questions about each programme via a live web chat straight after each show, as well as submit questions in real-time using Twitter and Facebook. Three-strong agency secures Direct Marketing Association and e-Dialog as first clients.
London, 04 April 2008 – Daljit Bhurji, the former head of Hotwire’s digital media practice has launched his own agency, Diffusion (www.diffusionpr.com), co-founded with PR Week award-winner Ivan Ristic and former Google search expert Barney Jones.
